The main idea behind this design was to have a central private block which would have several public gallery spaces with varying heights and spacial qualities cut into it, connected by a walk way threaded around the central block. With the aim of presenting the public with dramatically different spacial experiences as they travel along the walk way, from a dark cave like gallery to an open garden over looking the city. The central focus of the design is a courtyard around wich the other spaces both public and private are arranged. The courtyard is a space where the artist, a sculptor could construct large scale works. The end point of the pedestrians journey is a large adaptable area with moveable partitions which can be used to create spaces for any number of community activities.
The private areas consist of two self contained sets of private living quarters on the first and ground levels. With a shared living area on the level B1. There are also shared storage and studio spaces on level B2, with the studio space opening onto the public court allowing for the artist to move between the spaces and construct his or her work. It would also sever the purpose of allowing the public to watch the artist's process.
